IMMIGRANT VOICES FROM YEG
Where immigrantstories take root.
ARRIVE | REMEMBER | CREATE | BELONG
Zaria Zen Journal is a slow walk through Edmonton's galleries, alleyways, makerspaces and stages — told through the eyes, hands, and memories of those who came from somewhere else and made this city home.
OUR STORIES
The artists, makers, and community builders who crossed oceans and borders — and are now shaping Edmonton's cultural landscape from the inside.

Six worlds where immigrant culture lives.
From diaspora galleries to cultural festivals, every story in the journal traces the creative life of Edmonton's newcomer communities.
ABOUT THE JOURNAL
A record of those who arrived and created.
I'm Joe L — a writer, walker, and community listener capturing the stories of Edmonton's immigrant artists, makers, and cultural builders. This journal began as a way to honour the creativity that survives displacement and blooms in new places.
Every story starts with a visit, a coffee, a long conversation in two languages. No press releases, no rush. Just a city full of people with something to say — and a notebook willing to hold it.
